Formula 1 will take its roaring engines and screeching tires all over the world during 24 races in the coming months. One of these is the Chinese Grand Prix, which returns to F1 after being absent during the past four years. It’s one of the biggest 2024 F1 changes. There aren’t any changes in the 2024 F1 grid compared with the 2023 driver lineup, as all Formula 1 teams retained their drivers at the end of the 2023 season. Hamilton Says ‘Goodbye’ to Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton announced in February that he will be driving for Ferrari in 2025. He has signed a $100 million contract (the highest ever) and will receive another $400 million for his charities. This announcement was so big that it actually drove up the stock price of Ferrari! This news means that Carlos Sainz is without a seat so far. Hamilton swapping over to Ferrari is a major move since he has been with Mercedes for quite a while and has won six of his titles with them.

Trouble for Red Bull

With Mercedes losing Hamilton, there have been rumors of Max Verstappen going to Mercedes. Max's father, Jos Verstappen, has called for the firing of Christian Horner after an employee accused him of harassment. Since then he has been cleared of any wrongdoing and the accuser was suspended with pay. The lack of transparency around the investigation into Horner has displeased RB’s new engine partner, Ford. This saga has not helped paint the Red Bull team in a good light recently.

Helmut Marko, RB executive advisor, is also rumored to be leaving. If true, Max has stated that he could not stay on the team without Helmut, lending further credibility to the rumors that he may be leaving the team.

Rumors suggest that Max and his father are trying to up his salary in light of Hamilton’s move. There are certain clauses in his contract that state under specific conditions, he can leave. Jos Verstappen is not happy that Hamilton is making more than his son who is the world champion.

More Changes For the 2024 F1 Season

Racers and F1 fans will see several changes in F1 in 2024, one being changes in the regulations for testing old cars. Teams can’t run new components on old cars, only components that they previously used during races.

Another major change happening during the 2024 F1 season is that drivers may face bigger fines for violating rules. Fines have quadrupled from 250,000 euros to a million euros.

The window to submit appeals for rulings in previous races has also shrunk from 14 days to four days in 2024.
